Winter break is a time to relax, but that doesn’t mean all learning has to stop.
Keeping up your child’s learning habits this winter break will make sure that they retain the information they’ve learned so far. This way, they can just pick up where they left off when they’re back in school for the new year. Here are 3 ways to keep your child on top of their game… without them even knowing!
End off the night with story time.
Reading a story to your child not only boosts their listening and comprehension skills, but it also stimulates their imagination and creativity. By engaging them in conversations about the storyline, children are introduced to new words and ideas, which lays an academic foundation for their lives.
Educational shows are the way to go.
Ahh it’s winter break and kids finally have the time to lie on the couch and watch TV for the afternoon. Luckily for them, there’s lot’s of shows for them to choose from.
Some include Reading Rainbow, Bill Nye the Science Guy and Super Why! They’re sure to keep your child settled and interested on those days you want to kick back and relax too.
Let them teach.
Was there a specific topic your child is interested in at school? Boost their engagement by asking them to teach you what they know.
This allows your child to refresh their memory about what they’re learning and also motivates them to be more passionate about school subjects.
End off 2016 by making sure your child is doing their best in school. That way, they can also start off 2017 with a bang!
Happy holidays from your friends at Luna Education!
