City Tycoon Summer Camp Overview

In City Tycoon, students in Grades 4-5 are challenged to take their geometry skills to the next level: designing their own cities. This project-based activity camp focuses on geometry math skills, mapping skills, writing, comprehension and problem solving skills.

Throughout the 5-day camp, students will be creating a city that uses 2D and 3D shapes, practicing both plane and solid geometry. They will build upon and utilize many types of geometric skills such as building nets to create buildings and structures, as well as designing parts of a city with shapes, lines and angles.

Students are encouraged to use their real life experiences and needs as well as imagination to build their dream cities!

Prerequisites

City Tycoon is a Math exploration camp for students in Grades 4 and 5. Students are expected to have basic foundational understanding of differences of 2D and 3D shapes, and experience with multi-step calculation problems involving adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. In order to create a positive learning environment for everyone, students will also be expected to listen to instructors and follow instructions given.

We welcome students of all learning attitudes, but love to give gold stars to those who show an extra willingness to learn!
